If, like me, you are a sucker for a gangster movie, and especially so if they are French and existential, go see ‘Mesrine:Killer Instinct”. It’s the real deal.
Joe Queenan wrote a brilliant piece – ‘The Existential Assassins‘ – in The Guardian yesterday. He lists five greats of the genre and he’s dead right but he should have gone seven and added ‘Le Doulos’ and ‘Le Samourai’. Read it here.
