It’s always great to discover a magazine that doesn’t speak to you like you’re a complete idiot – McSweeney’s brilliant (almost) monthly periodical, The Believer is such a publication. A great source of intelligent writing and slightly trippy illustration, The Believer has been quietly going about it’s business for 55 issues now. This month’s music special is particularly brilliant, coming complete with articles on everything from Ian Mckaye of Fugazi/Minor Threat fame, ‘soul queen of New Orleans’ Irma Thomas (displaced by Hurricane Katrina) and the American Black Metal scene. The cover mount CD is ace too. It’s usually available in Borders or online here.
