George Pelecanos was born in Washington DC IN 1957. He worked as a line cook, dishwasher, shoe salesman, electronics salesman, construction worker and retail general manager before publishing his first novel “A Firing Offence” in 1992. He is the author of sixteen crime novels set in and around Washington, DC. “The Big Blowdown” was the recipitent of the International Crime Novel of the Year award in both Germany and Japan and “King Suckerman” was shortlisted for the Gold Dagger award in the UK.

Pelecanos is also an award-winning journalist who has written and produced on the acclaimed HBO series “The Wire” for which he was nominated for an Emmy (listen to a conversation between GP & David Simon here). His latest novel “The Way Home” is a page-turning story of rebellion, greed and the high price of a second chance.
