Caught by the River

Hugh Miles Films The Wye

31st December 2010

Hi Jeff,

Here’s something to help all at Caught by the River celebrate the festive season – a new short film about the nation’s favourite river.
As you all know, earlier this year we (‘Our Rivers’) ran a public vote to help find the best and worst rivers in England and Wales. The Wye won and The Thames was voted worst river – but most importantly it got people talking about the threats our river wildlife faces.
Inspired by the award respected wildlife cameraman Hugh Miles got in touch and kindly offered to make a film about The Wye, to illustrate just why it is so well-loved. The results speak for themselves with some glorious footage of darting kingfishers, lurking pike and furtive water vole all sharing the teeming waters.
We hope you enjoy it, and we’ll be back in the new year to continue raising the profile of threatened river wildlife and putting pressure on the powers that be to protect this precious habitat.
Have a good one!
