Caught by the River

Something for the Weekend

30th September 2011

If you get a bit of time to yourselves over the weekend there are a couple of things currently on the iPlayer that might be of interest:

Martin James visits Redmire Pool for this weeks BBC Radio Lancashire broadcast, At The Water’s Edge. You’ll find that HERE.

Robert Macfarlane’s classic, The Wild Places, read by Richard Greenwood. All five episodes of that can be found HERE.(thanks to Chris Eyles for the heads up).

A couple of blogs that are worth a visit:

Friend of Arcadia, Nick Cooper, has just started a new one which he has called The Tuesday Swim. It’s early days but Nick’s an interesting chap and his blog is already reflecting that. Find it HERE.

John Levell’s Avon Diary is a regular read of mine. As we go into Autumn river keeper John documents the season’s changes on the Avon valley at Somerley.

Over in the States, several well read and sharply dressed outdoors blogs always reward a visit; Edward Abbey meets The Cocteau Twins on the Cold Splinters, and Wildwood has been trout fishing in Virginia.

And up in Lancashire, the unstoppable Mark, at Beating The Bounds, has been birding at Leighton Moss. Read his report HERE.
