MARCH AT KLÜB GÜTENBERG
Hosted by Rough Trade Books and the Quietus website

After recent sell-out nights with Luke Haines plus rock diets and Aidan Moffat plus the venomous slow loris, in March we are proud to be hosting …

The Sexual Objects (ex Fire Engines) live
Plus author Robin Turner, poet Jock Scot and a prize pub quiz

Wednesday 14 March
Klüb Gütenberg
@ The Old Queen’s Head
44 Essex Road, Islington
London N1 8LN

7.30pm to 11pm

Entrance £7 in advance and £9 on the night. Tickets available from We Got Tickets.

Sexual Objects are fronted by Davy Henderson of the celebrated Fire Engines, Win and Nectarine No.9. The Guardian on The Sexual Objects: “There’s freakbeat here, there’s doo wop, there’s narcotic funk that suggests Prince in a drug den with Peter Perrett. All this plus Velvets/Television drones and the sweetest sugar pop.”

The supporting attractions are headed by Robin Turner (Caught By The River/Heavenly Recordings), co-author of the recent book Looking For The Moon Under Water The Search For The Perfect Pub. Robin will be talking about the wonders of the British public house. The Word magazine on The Moon Under Water: “As the book persuasively argues, well-run locals are the refuge of the democratic patriot and a force for social cohesion. You’ll resolve to visit at least one pub every day for the rest of your life.”

The poet Jock Scot has worked with musicians from The Clash and Ian Dury to Vivian Stanshall and British Sea Power. He will be attending Klüb Gütenberg in the role of MC-libero.

There will also be a mystery Special Guest, a much-loved figure from the post-punk epoch.

Klüb Gütenberg takes place in a GENUINELY LOVELY private room at The Old Queen’s Head in Islington.
