We ran a competition in last week’s newsletter to win a copy of the new issue of Hole & Corner magazine. It features the usual mixture of craft, skill, eccentrics and inspiring figures, including exclusive stories from Caught by the River contributors Richard Benson and Jude Rogers. There are also features on handmade beehive makers, stained glass artists, revolutionary chefs and mixologists (of the alcoholic variety). Plus a cut-out-and-keep guide to building your own shed, of course.

We asked: Who wrote the following lines?

“Out of my sorrow
Have I made these songs
Out of my sorrow;

Though somewhat
of the making’s eager pain
From Joy did borrow. ”

And the answer is: Ivor Gurney.

The first names out of the hat were Richard Battersby, Owen Whitford, Mike Clayton, Sue Shepherd and Aaron Lawton. Congratulations, your magazine will be with you shortly. For those not fortunate enough to win, Hole & Corner can be purchased here.
