We’ve got a double competition result to announce this time and as always, we’d like to thank everyone who got in touch – we had lots and lots of responses which is great.

Thanks to Jack Robert Sellen we had a copy of illustrated autobiographical travelogue The Caingorms Scene and Unseen (Scottish Mountaineering Trust, 1989) (hdbk, 117 pp) penned by the legendary mountain man Sydney Scroggie to give away to one lucky reader.

Sydney sadly lost his sight and right lower leg in World War 2 but we wanted to know: in which country did this happen?

The correct answer is: Italy

The name we pulled out of the hat was Martin Forster. Congratulations – your book is on its way to you.

We also had three copies of Mark Avery’s acclaimed elegy to the passenger pigeon, A Message From Martha, up for grabs if you could answer the following question correctly: In which US state was the last wild passenger pigeon shot?

The answer is: Ohio

Rebecca Nicholl, Jane Tily, Paul Riley – a copy of the book is on its way to each of you.
