Apple Day, which falls on 21 October, was launched by Common Ground in 1990. In their words:

‘The aspiration was to create a calendar custom, an autumn holiday. From the start, Apple Day was intended to be both a celebration and a demonstration of the variety we are in danger of losing, not simply in apples, but in the richness and diversity of landscape, ecology and culture too. It has also played a part in raising awareness in the provenance and traceability of food.’

This year, we’ve decided to mark Apple Day with a playlist, and we’d like you to get involved. All you need to do is send us the name of (or a link to) your choice of apple-related song. We’ll collect them all, choose our favourites and consolidate them into a Spotify playlist, which’ll go live just before the big day.

Selections should be sent to info@caughtbytheriver.net, with ‘Apple Day’ in the subject line, no later than next Saturday (15 October). One tune only and no files please.

Thank you in advance!
