Next up, we had 3 copies of Love in Vain: Robert Johnson, 1911-1938out now via Faber – to give away.

We asked: “If I hadn’t heard the Robert Johnson record when I did, there probably would have been hundreds of lines of mine that would have been shut down—that I wouldn’t have felt free enough or upraised enough to write.” These lines were featured in the autobiography of which famous songster?

And the answer is: Bob Dylan. The winners are Keith Smith, Steve Brandl and Juliet Russell. Your prizes will be with you shortly.

Thanks, as usual, for all the competition entries. On tomorrow’s newsletter, we are offering the chance to win a pair of tickets to the ‘Un-Discovered Islands’ event at Stanfords book shop – where critically acclaimed author Malachy Tallack and renowned illustrator Katie Scott will discuss lands as the product of imagination, deception or simply human error.

Make sure you’re signed up to the mailing list before 11am for the chance to win. The sign-up bar can be found on the top right-hand side of the site.
