Boomerangs, redwoods, and Earth Day 2022

22nd April 2022

To mark Earth Day 2022, Atlantan duo Mattiel have today released a demo version of the track ‘Boomerang’ from their recent album Georgia Gothic, accompanied by a beautiful video shot in amongst the redwoods of Arcata, California.

Mattiel Brown explains: Touring the United States as a musician is such an amazing thing — we’ve driven over 8,000 miles of the east and west coast so far. Aside from meeting new people and playing shows, we’ve driven across vast deserts, along coastal cliffs, and even through snow-capped mountains in a blizzard. Along the journey, we stopped in the great redwood forest north of Arcata, California to film a video for an alternate version of our song ‘Boomerang’, which, for me, is about personal introspection and the vast difference between urban and rural settings, both of which are huge parts of my life. The connection we felt to the forest around us is difficult to describe in words — but it offered a great perspective. We never want to see a world without places like this, and we encourage you this earth day to visit redwoodparkconservancy.org to donate to the preservation of our great redwood forests.

Watch the video below. ‘Boomerang’ is available to buy exclusively on Bandcamp for a whole week (April 22-29), with a portion of the track sales going to the Redwood Parks Conservancy.
