Happy World Bee Day!

20th May 2024

Today, 20th May, marks World Bee Day — designated by the UN to raise awareness of the importance of pollinators, the threats they face and their contribution to sustainable development.

Why not mark the occasion exploring the work of artist, bee enthusiast and friend of the site Wolfgang Buttress?

The mind behind The Hive, now a permanent installation at Kew Gardens, and its accompanying soundtrack BE•ONE, released on our Rivertones label in 2016, Wolfgang’s latest project is Bees: A Story of Survival — a newly opened exhibition at Liverpool World Museum, which uses sculptural sound and light environments to provide visitors with a real-time connection to bees. You can hear him discuss the exhibition, within a wider celebration of bees, on last Monday’s episode of Start the Week.
