Caught by the River

At The End Of The World

There’s a piece that caught my eye on The Guardian website about the Dengle Peninsula in Essex, inspiration for both War Of The Worlds and The Birds. Click here to read. It’s interesting to see how Essex is being reclaimed, now portrayed as a sparse, otherworldly landscape less than an hour from London – a Wild Place struck out there just at the end of the train line – rather than just the butt of a thousand and one jokes about girls in white stilettos. Got me thinking that a Caught By The River daytrip out of Liverpool Street station might be in order…

Also at this point, worth giving nods to our favourite Essex based rock blogging combo Underworld and to the masterful 350 Miles, Jason Orton’s photographic journey round the Essex coastline – the last few copies of which are available in the CBTR shop.
