We’re extremely excited to announce the 9th issue of our fanzine, An Antidote To Indifference. Inspired by Jon Gower’s essays on the wildlife of Bardsey we decided upon an island theme this time around, and who better to invite on board as editor than Malachy Tallack of The Island Review.
In Malachy’s words; “Our aim is to bring into focus some of the places that are too-often forgotten: the remote edges that are also, simultaneously, the centre of their own worlds…We hope to highlight the work of some great writers, artists and musicians who live in or are inspired by islands.” We couldn’t have put it better ourselves.
Among those great writers is Sarah Boden, who’s written us an evocative piece about relocating to the island of Eigg. We’ve also got Tim Dee waxing lyrical about the birds of Henderson Island and Amy Liptrot piecing together her experience of dyke building on Stromnesss.
We’ve also got contributions from Stanley Donwood, Bill Drummond and Kurt Jackson, among many many more.
The 44 page issue has been designed once again by Carol Briggs, with a cover by Alice Strange. Publication date is May 14th and the price is £5, it’s available to pre-order from the Caught by the River shop here.
