‘Storms Aren’t Sexy’ is an A6 Risograph 3-colour zine produced collaboratively by PageMasters & The Slow Grind.

The Slow Grind write: Storms is full of gorgeous illustrations and important facts and findings that draw attention to the ongoing climate crisis that is impacting Caribbean nations and SIDS (Small Island Developing States) right now.

Within the convo surrounding the environment the Caribbean seems to not be getting that much airtime and it’s a problem. These islands are on the frontline of environmental degradation, extreme weather patterns and are in a tireless cycle of economic dependency with the West. IT AIN’T ON!!!!!!

If you love our sun, song, curry goat and dutty wine keep the necessity of safeguarding not only our beloved culture but the actual lands they derive from in mind, come with the quickness and act hunnies. Educate yourself and your loved ones. This zine is a good place to start.

‘Storms Aren’t Sexy’ was launched at the PageMasters Zine Fair at South London Gallery 2024.

‘LOVE ME TENDER’, The Slow Grind’s latest zine, is about rivers, marshland birds, water deities and of course how our waterways are being impacted by the climate crisis. It was launched at Offprint in May 2026.

Extract: Our relationship with the natural world shifts just as its geological condition does, as we both – humans, beyond-humans and nature, navigate the effects of industrialisation and capital interests in urban, rural, tropical and coastal contexts alike.

Fresh water is growing scarce, coastlines are receding forcing coastal communities to retreat, rivers; the veins and arteries of our world are increasingly at risk of degradation, degradation, species loss and heavy metal contamination. In built up cities, the natural meandering paths on land that rivers once ran through have been forced underfoot.

We have to change the way that we value and relate to water. It is a common good, a source of memory and a place of safety and sustenance.
